Loko lost in the EuroChallenge final

KRKA celebrated EuroChallenge title. The Slovenian team capped their sensational European tournament campaign with a tough victory over Lokomotiv-Kuban in Belgium.

KRKA showed their ambitions early in the encounter. They jumped to a 14:6 lead midway through the opening frame. But Lokomotiv gradually recovered erasing the deficit and taking a 20:18 lead after ten minutes.

KRKA opened the second frame with eight points in a row to surge back in front 26:20. They maintained the lead for some time before Surovtsev and Tucker levelled things up at 41. Drobnjak wrapped up the first half with a lay-up as the Slovenian team grabbed a 43:41 advantage. The teams stayed close throughout the intense third term. Tucker and Toporov ensured a 65:61 lead for Lokomotiv at the final intermission. Lokomotiv seemed to be getting away midway through the final period. Surovtsev drained a triple for a 75:67 Lokomotiv Kuban lead. But Christopher Booker matched on the other end triggering a 16:0 run that shocked Lokomotiv and allowed KRKA to celebrate a historic title.

Oostende wrapped up their EuroChallenge campaign on a high note. They defeated Spartak Saint Petersvburg to claim the tournaments Bronze medals. The game was a real treat for all the basketball fans as the outcome was decided in the extra period.

It was a close battle from start to finish. Oostende gained a17:13 lead late in the opening frame but Spartak levelled things up at 20 after ten minutes.

The teams stayed neck and neck in the third term and entered the fourth period tied at 64. It all came down to the final seconds in regulation. Henry Domercant ensured an 82:80 lead for Spartak with 30 seconds remaining. Trevor Huffman answered with two free throws to knot things up. Henry Domercant had a chance to win the game for Spartak but missed a jumper at the buzzer.

EuroChallenge. Final Four. Game for the third place.
